HISTORY OF LYNN VALLEY
The history of Lynn Valley in North Vancouver dates back to the late 1800s. The area was first settled by members of the Squamish Nation, who called the area “Lynn”, meaning “peaceful haven”. The first settlers to the area were European settlers, who began to develop the area into a bustling community. Lynn Valley was named after John Lynn, an early settler who arrived in the area in 1886. In 1912, the Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge was built to connect the community with Vancouver. This bridge was the first of its kind in British Columbia, and it provided easy access to the city for the residents of Lynn Valley.
